Disco Elysium System Requirements

Can I Run Disco Elysium?

In order to know whether your PC is up to the task of running Disco Elysium, you’ll first need to determine what components it houses. If you’re not sure how to go about doing this, you can refer to our step-by-step guide right here, which will walk you through the process.

From there, compare your results to the minimum and recommended system requirements for Disco Elysium we’ve listed below for convenience. Ideally, you’ll want to fall somewhere above the recommended requirements. If not, you may want to put some thought into making a few choice hardware upgrades.

In an effort to make the whole process of figuring out whether a game can run on a system, we’ve been working on a utility to do the heavy lifting for you. It will automatically scan any given PC and provide a detailed list of all the constituent parts. Our team is still deep into developing the tool, but we’ll be sure to make a big song and dance once it’s ready for action, so check back if it’s something that interests you.

Disco Elysium Game Details

  • Release Date: October 15th, 2019 (PC)
  • System Requirements: Medium
  • Genre: Role-playing game
  • Developer: ZA/UM
  • Publisher: ZA/UM

Disco Elysium is a detective fantasy single-player role-playing game that taps into the classic trope of the rough around the edges cop tasked with solving a crime. To make matters worse, our protagonist suffers from amnesia.

Via an isometric perspective, players unravel an open-ended case through the exploration of an open-world set in the corrupt and crime-ridden town of Revachol West. With an emphasis on dialogue, it’s all about chasing leads and interrogating NPCs while Revachol West threatens to crumble at every turn.

Disco Elysium is all about weaving an experience unique to the player, and it achieves this through a heft of options that run from assigning a rich selection of skills, each with their own rewards and consequences, to engaging or not in optional combat and managing a Thought Cabinet, by way of seemingly limitless dialogue trees.

Disco Elysium is a unique game by any standard. It has received praise across the board for its carefully crafted story-telling, compelling characters, and the sheer multitude of options thrown at the player.

Optimal Hardware Suggestions

A stunning visual treat, especially in its stellar hand-drawn art style, Disco Elysium is surprisingly easy on requirements, partly due to the nature of the game. Thankfully, it’s also well-optimized, which helps to iron our performance issues. The bottom line is that Disco Elysium won’t require a top of the line gaming PC, and that is a welcome respite from hardware-hungry games.

Eyeing the minimum specifications, it’s rare to see a game released in 2019 able to run with an integrated GPU, and surprisingly this translates to more than respectable performance. The game works well with such a build, and you can expect 30-40 FPS at 720p with the settings hovering around low to medium.

There’s a sharp jump to the recommended requirements, especially from an integrated GPU to an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 and the need for an Intel Core i7. In our estimation, the recommended specs are a little overkill and are more or less unneeded to get the best out of Disco Elysium.

Nevertheless, for the sake of being thorough, you can expect anywhere upwards of 60 FPS with the settings on high with a resolution of 1440p if you have a build matching the recommended settings.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

If you are on a budget, either of our $300 or $400 builds pack enough power to run Disco Elysium with decent performance on an integrated GPU. AMD’s APUs are the unsung heroes of budget builds.

If you’ve got a little more cash to spare, eye up our $500 build that includes a dedicated RX 570 GPU. We’ve also managed to squeeze in a whopping 16 GB of RAM and a reasonably performance-oriented AMD Ryzen 2600 CPU.
