The best Razer laptop models are some of the thinnest and well-built Windows laptops available, with the Razer gaming laptop line being one of the most iconic premium offerings on the market. We’ll be taking a closer look at some of the best Razer laptops on the market, to help you decide whether or not they’re worth your hard-earned cash.

The history of the Razer brand

Like many peripheral brands, Razer started its existence with humble beginnings – offering up high-end gaming accessories to those looking to take their gaming to the next level. However, that didn’t last long. The brand saw a huge increase in consumer popularity after releasing a number of best-selling peripherals – including the Deathadder (V2)BasiliskKraken, and Hunstman to name but a few – and quickly became a household name when discussing gaming peripherals.

Fast forward 10 years and Razer is now dipping its toes in all kinds of gaming equipment, ranging from laptops to high-end displays, and pretty much everything in between.

So, with all that in mind, let’s dive into the best Razer laptops in 2022!

Note: Razer have just announced a refresh of their gaming laptop range at CES 2022, but these machines are not yet available to buy. As soon as they are we will be updating the below selections with the newest models.

Razer Blade Pro 17 (2021) FHD 360Hz

Razer Blade Pro 17 (2021) FHD 360Hz

Pros
Cons

The late 2021 series of Razer Blades, which come equipped with the latest 30-series GPUs from Nvidia, have a variety of different possible loadouts you can choose from, but this Razer Blade 17 with 360Hz FHD screen is our personal favorite for gaming.

This premium gaming laptop comes with a RTX 3080 GPU that has an increased TGP of 130W, which means the performance is superior to the disappointing effort of the early 2021 version that was hampered by a lower max voltage in games. The graphics card is paired with an 11th gen, Intel Core i7-11800H CPU – not quite the fastest processor out there, bein beaten by Intel’s higher i9 models and not as good as AMD’s best 5900HX and 5980HX, however it’s still a powerful enough chip if your interests only lie in gaming, and it will still do well on most moderately demanding workstation render tasks.

Like all Razer Blades the screen quality, contrast and color replication of the display is outstanding, with a wide color gamut and good accuracy to boot, meaning it could be used for graphical workflow uses alongside gaming if you’re in that line of work. Although some may wonder why we didn’t pick the 1440p version of the Razer Blade 17, the uplift you get in quality compared to the price is not something we think worth it for most gamers on a 17” display, though this is largely also a matter of subjective priorities. We have selected a 1440p option on this page as well, though it does come specced out with a weaker GPU, RAM and SSD.

This machine in contrast comes with a whopping 32GB RAM, making it great for heavy web-browser usage and running multiple tasks, as well as a nice sized 1TB SSD. As with all the laptops on this page, it comes with a great array of sockets and ports including Thunderbolt 3.0. Really, the only real downside of this laptop is the price. Ultimately though, quality does not come cheap.

The Best Razer Laptop For Competitive Gaming And Maximising FPS

Razer Blade 15 (2021) FHD 360Hz

Razer Blade 15 (2021) FHD 360Hz

Pros
Cons

Whilst for us the 17.3” version of the Razer Blade Pro with FHD 360Hz display is the preferred variation, if your priority is purely to squeeze as many FPS out of your laptop as possible, and you don’t mind trading this off for a slightly smaller screen, then the Razer Blade Pro 15 might be the better option for you.

You can get the variant of this laptop which is identical in every other way, besides the screen, to its 17.3” sibling for around $200 cheaper, or you can try and pick up the version with the superior i7-11800H CPU for around $100 cheaper than our top pick, which would be our recommendation. Whilst processors aren’t as important as GPUs in generating better FPS in your games, you will still notice a difference, making the Razer Blade Pro 15 with i7-11800H CPU the best option for gamers.

This laptop comes with the same great 1TB SSD, 32GB RAM and the full array of ports, but has the further advantage of being even lighter than the 17” version. Combined with its smaller diameters and this is a superb laptop for those working and gaming on the go (although, as with all gaming laptops, you’ll need to be plugged in to get decent gaming performance).

You will get slightly better battery life out of the smaller display but it still leaves something to be desired, however, given the powerful internal components this comes with, it’s not that surprising it requires a lot of juice. All in all, this is a premium gaming laptop of the highest quality.

Razer Blade 14 AMD Gaming Laptop (RTX 3080, 1440p, 165Hz)

Razer Blade 14 AMD Gaming Laptop (RTX 3080, 1440p, 165Hz)

Pros
Cons

Unless portability is your number one priority we wouldn’t normally suggest going with a 14-inch gaming laptop, due to the loss of immersion in games most people will feel as a result of the smaller display. Still, if you have your heart set on a gaming machine of this size, the Razer Blade 14 is the most powerful option out there, and an impressive piece of engineering.

The RTX 3080 is only an 8GB VRAM version (compared to the other 16GB VRAM ones listed here) and has a fairly low 90-100W TGP, both of which are limitations imposed by the small size of the machine. Still, combined with the very powerful AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU, you can still expect to get great FPS on the latest games at the highest graphical settings. The great multi-core performance of the AMD CPU also makes short work of most moderately demanding rendering tasks, meaning the Razer Blade 14 can function well as a portable workstation for creatives.

Adding to this, the screen of the Razer Blade 14 has sRGB coverage of around 99.8% and AdobeRGB of approximately 83%, so it’s suitable for light color work in the sRGB space (something the higher 1440p resolution will help with for detailed graphics design work). The color replication is definitely great for gaming and the high contrast ratio and peak brightness create a vibrant, crisp image. Gray-to-gray response time is always slower in 14” machines, but the Razer Blade 14 again comes number one in this department relative to the competition, with a real, effective 9ms response time. The 165Hz refresh rate with FreeSync support also does the job for past-paced gaming.

In terms of weight, the Razer Blade 14 isn’t especially light, though certainly it’s light enough to carry without much issue, and it’s so thin and small it can fit easily in even the smallest of briefcases or backpacks. As you’d expect from Razer, build quality is top of the line with a durable aluminum chassis that feels nice to the touch. All told, this is the best 14-inch gaming laptop money can buy.

The Best Studio Razer Laptop

Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition

Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition

Pros
Cons

Moving away from just gaming, Razer are now catering towards the creative types out there – bringing high-performance rendering hardware and stunning displays to the table. The Razer Blade 15 studio edition is their answer to creatives’ cries.

We’ve yet to see a 2021 release of the studio edition laptop with a Comet Lake CPU, but the 2020 release still packs a mighty punch. For the purposes of this article, we’ve opted for the 15.3″ 4K OLED touch screen display. That being said, it’s definitely worth noting that you can get studio editions of the 13 and 17-inch models if that is more to your taste. That out of the way, at the heart of the 15.6″ version of this powerhouse laptop sits one of Intel’s latest CPUs, their 10th gen i7-10875H. As mentioned above, this is the very same found in the Blade Pro, offering up superb levels of performance whether your gaming or performing highly-taxing workflow style tasks. It offers up 8 cores and 16 threads, clocked at 2.3GHz base and 5.10GHz boost. These stats make this one of the most powerful laptop CPUs in today’s market – not to be sniffed at.

Alongside the hugely powerful CPU lies the Quadro RTX 5000 studio edition GPU – a 16GB GDDR6 VRAM monster than is fully equipped to tackle almost any rendering task you throw at it. Whilst this particular GPU isn’t great value for money when referencing gaming, it more than makes up for it in workload scenarios. Accompanied by 32GB of high-performance RAM, this laptop is more than equipped to handle the most intense of multi-tasking scenarios. That means rendering, streaming, browsing, and gaming are all possible on this machine.

One of the most impressive improvements this laptop has to offer is its display. This thing is stunning. The 15.6″ OLED 4K touch screen not only provides a 60Hz refresh rate, but also offers a 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color spectrum, and HDR400 brightness to boot. With touch screen capabilities, this laptop also provides tablet-like functionality to your workflows.

With a tonne of other features, this laptop is right up there when discussing creative type laptops. Not only is this thing stunning aesthetically, but it also offers all the power you could ever want from a workstation laptop.
