Path of Exile System Requirements

Can I Run Path of Exile?

If you are looking for a free to play, online role-playing adventure, then Path of Exile is a must-play.

However, before you delve headfirst into the world of Wraeclast, you need to know how your PC will run it. In order to run Path of Exile, you will first need to know whether your PC specifications are suitable and match the system requirements.

If you’re unsure of how to check your PC specifications, we have a handy guide written for you which will take you through it step by step.

This might end up being a bit time consuming, so we are here to make it easier for you. We are currently working on a tool that will do this for you automatically to save you time. As soon as this is ready to go live, we will let you know about it.

In the meantime, we will list the system requirements below for Path of Exile. If you find that your PC doesn’t quite meet the minimum requirements, it could be time for an upgrade. We will also give you some tips on what to look for if you are considering an upgrade for your PC.

  • System Requirements: Medium
  • Genre: Action role-playing, hack, and slash

  • Publisher: Grinding Gear Games

Path of Exile is an action role-playing game that allows the player to control a character from an overhead perspective. The player must explore caves, dungeons, and large outdoor areas, fulfilling quests assigned by non-player characters to gain experience points.

You play as an Exile, banished to survive in the harsh landscape of Wraeclast, a dark fantasy world. You will embark on deadly missions and engage in visceral combat in brutal PvP tournaments.

Path of Exile gives you the chance to play as a Duelist, Witch, Ranger, Templar, Marauder, Scion, or Shadow character class. You will be able to develop your skill gems, collect and trade in magic, and create your own force of power and defense. There is a huge skill tree to work your way through and unique skill combinations to discover.

The best part about Path of Exile is that it’s free to play, with optional microtransactions if you want to invest in customizing the cosmetic elements of the game. There’s also the option to create invite-only leagues if you would rather play privately with friends.

Optimal Hardware Suggestions

With an action role-playing game, one of the most important things to look for is a solid framerate. The last thing you need when in the thick of the action is for the performance to dip or start stuttering.

With the minimum requirements listed above, you should be able to achieve 30 FPS at 720p resolution but to play it on the safe side, we would always recommend going for the recommended requirements or above if possible.

The recommended requirements should give you a stable 60 FPS at a good resolution of 1080p with the settings on high or ultra. This should ensure a smooth playing experience without the risk of stuttering.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

The above system requirements put this in the medium range of PC builds. You won’t need a hugely expensive PC to run it, but you could be risking some performance issues if you opt to stay with a PC that’s a few years old.

If you are looking to upgrade your PC to play this and other similar titles, we would recommend going for a mid-range PC build costing around $700. Our $700 PC build uses the following CPU, RAM and GPU models which should be more than enough to run Path of Exile.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: XFX Radeon RX 590 Gaming 8G OC+ Fatboy

Of course, when it comes to upgrading your PC, the bigger your budget, the more opportunity, and flexibility you have to run other titles without worry. If you can push the boat out, check out our $800 PC build which will let you take your pick of more demanding gaming titles.
