Star Wars: Squadrons System Requirements

Can I Run Star Wars: Squadrons?

If you’re excited to jump in and explore the stars in the upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons game, you’re going to want to make sure you can run it first. Of course, if you’re picking up Star Wars: Squadrons on console you’ll have nothing to worry about, but if you want to push those settings to the max and reach higher resolutions on PC, it’s important to check the system requirements first.

If you aren’t sure whether your PC is good enough to run Star Wars: Squadrons when it releases in October, don’t worry. All you need to do is compare your current system specifications to the minimum and recommended requirements below. If you don’t know your system specifications, we have a handy guide that shows you where to find them.

There is also a separate set of system requirements for those who want to experience Star Wars: Squadrons in virtual reality. These are slightly higher than the recommended settings, so you’ll have to take that into account.

Star Wars: Squadrons Game Details

  • Release date: October 2, 2020 – Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
  • System Requirements: Medium-High
  • Genre: Action
  • Developer: Motive Studios
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts

In Star Wars: Squadrons, you’ll take to the skies and stars in a variety of your favorite Star Wars fighters. This is a title that’s been highly requested ever since we got a small taste of the space combat in Battlefront 2.

There will be an extensive single-player campaign as well as a multiplayer mode where you can engage your friends in battle.

Set just after the events of The Battle of Endor, players will take part in a single-player campaign that has them sitting on both sides of the action. You’ll find yourself flying as either a New Republic Vanguard fighter or even as part of the Empire’s Titan squadron.

So far, there’s a couple of multiplayer modes that have been announced with more likely on the way. There’s the classic team deathmatch mode named “Dogfights” which will see pilots fight to the death until no-one remains. The other announced mode is one where you’ll see yourself completing objectives against the opposing team, with the ultimate goal being the destruction of their flagship. This title will also be cross-play compatible between consoles, PC and even VR.

There will also be a progression system in place that allows pilots to upgrade certain aspects of their ships’ appearance and even stats. Some of the customizable options include cosmetics, hulls, shields, and ship engines. These upgrades don’t involve the use of microtransactions either, you’ll have to earn your rewards through hard-fought gameplay.

Optimal Hardware Suggestions

We’ve got three different types of system requirements for Star Wars: Squadrons at the moment, one of which is only relevant for VR play. So far, the only headset confirmed is the PlayStation VR, but we imagine most PC headsets will be compatible upon release.

With the amount of action you’ll be seeing on the screen we’d recommend you try to play this game at its recommended settings. You will need a slight upgrade for VR play though to help you reach those higher frame rates.

Altogether, these aren’t a massively demanding set of requirements and you shouldn’t struggle to hit the recommended ones. We imagine that the recommended settings will likely be enough to hit a consistent 60 FPS at a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Those looking to play at higher frame rates of resolutions may have to go a bit beyond what’s recommended to get the results they want, however.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

As with all games that have a lot of action on the screen at once, a stable framerate is the best thing to aim for here. With these requirements not being too demanding and even the install size being surprisingly low, a mid-range PC build would be a perfect place to start.

It is interesting to note that it is another game that is matching the trend of requiring 16 GB of RAM in the system requirements. You’ll definitely want to design your system with this in mind if you can.

Some of the key components that we’d include in a system build would be the following.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
  • GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 5600 XT Gaming OC 6G Graphics Card

If you want more ideas on what to include in your build then look no further, we have a great variety of PC builds on our website for every price range. You can easily sort by budget builds, high-end builds, or even the CPU manufacturer to find exactly what you need.
