Wolfenstein: Youngblood System Requirements

Can I Run Wolfenstein: Youngblood?

Whether you can run the latest entry in the Wolfenstein franchise depends entirely on the hardware components that make up the gaming rig you’re hoping to use, with a specific focus on GPU, CPU, and RAM.

As a first step, find out precisely what hardware you have. If you need a hand doing this, refer to our easy to follow step-by-step guide right here.

From there, cross-reference the results to the official minimum and recommended system requirements from publisher Bethesda, which we’ve conveniently listed below for easy access. We always suggest trying to hit the recommended settings, if at all possible, to ensure a good experience.

We aren’t the biggest fans of how tedious figuring out game compatibility can be, and with that in mind, we are working on a tool to make the process a whole lot more straightforward. This bespoke tool will automatically scan any given PC for its hardware and list the components in easy to digest form. It’s still being worked on at the moment, but we’ll be sure to post an update once its up and ready for our readers to use.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood Game Details

Wolfenstein: Youngblood is the latest entry in the famed first-person shooter Wolfenstein franchise and is the first to offer a modern co-op adventure, as players drop into a recreation of alternate history Nazi-occupied Paris.

The game is set an odd two decades after Wolfenstein II and sees protagonist BJ Blazkowicz’s twin daughters, Jessie and Zofia, pushed to take up arms as they hunt down their missing father. Their adventure takes them to Neu-Paris, crawling with Nazi enemies, where they meet up with the French Resistance to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Bethesda says Youngblood is the most open-ended Wolfenstein game to date with a base of operations from which to plan and execute missions in a non-linear manner giving the player options as to how they progress and complete the game.

While much of Wolfenstein: Youngblood harks back to the series’ classic DNA of gripping, high-octane encounters, and solid gunplay, players can either jump in alone or with a friend to explore, take on missions, unlock all manner of high powered weaponry, and improve their characters through the introduction of light-RPG features.

Optimal Hardware Suggestions

When it comes to performance, Wolfenstein: Youngblood is an oddity in that the game can run on systems with specifications well below the minimum requirements. It’s uncommon, and a rather rare sight, but these games do exist.

The minimum requirements allow you to hit a stable 60 fps on 1080p with the settings on low. You can up the settings to high and drop the resolution to 720p and still maintain around 50-60 FPS reliably. The recommended settings grant 60 FPS at 1080p with the settings on the maxed out ultra ‘Mein Leben!’ dial. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 would quite simply be overkill unless you desperately need 120 FPS or more.

The graphical settings are also pretty expansive, with 30 different advanced graphical settings to tinker with to find that sweet spot. This means that as long as you have a dedicated GPU with at 4 to 6 GB of VRAM, you should be able to hit 40 to 60 FPS with some combination or other of the settings. In other words, Wolfenstein: Youngblood is pretty forgiving.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

Recommendations all depend on what you want out of the game, but we’ll say, and this is rare on our part, the minimum requirements are sufficient to get a more than decent experience from the game. We’re talking 1080p with settings on medium granting 30-40 FPS. The recommended requirements are best if you want to err on the safe side, but you’d be more or less playing the game to the maximum of its capacity, albeit at 60 FPS.

Either of our $500 or $600 builds are good starting points. They both pack enough power to run Wolfenstein: Youngblood flawlessly without breaking the bank thanks to choice budget components.
