World of Tanks System Requirements

Can I Run World of Tanks?

Whether your PC is up to the task of running World of Tanks depends on what components it houses, with a particular emphasis on the CPU, GPU, and RAM as these generally determine performance. If you need a helping hand, we’ve compiled a step-by-step guide, which you can check out right here.

From there, cross-reference your specifications to the minimum and recommended requirements for World of Tanks we’ve listed below. We suggest aiming to match or exceed the recommended requirements, if at all possible. If you fall short of the minimum requirements, you may want to consider a targeted upgrade of one or two components.

We’re not exactly fans of how tedious it can be to check system requirements, so in that spirit, we are currently developing a bespoke utility to do the heavy lifting for you. The tool will scan any given PC automatically and produce an exhaustive list of all its components. It’s still not quite ready to be less loose into the wild, but we’ll be sure to publish an update once it’s ready for action.

As the name implies, World of Tanks is a vehicular combat MMO centered on the metal juggernauts of the battlefield – tanks. Dropping players in the heated era of the mid-20th century, World of Tanks offers intense player versus player tank combat on randomly-generated maps.

With over 600 tanks from nations around the world to choose from, players are spoiled for choice, whether that be classic tanks like the Sherman, Panther, or T-34. On top of this breadth of choice, players can also upgrade their tanks through modules for equipment such as guns, turrets, engines, and so on.

World of Tanks also offers a multitude of game modes. Players can find a skirmish that suits their mood or style from quick-fire random battles to ranked competition and clan games, by way of seasonal modes. There’s even a massive 30-on-30 Frontline mode for a genuine battlefield experience.

The best part of all this is that World of Tanks is free to play.

Optimal Hardware Suggestions

Fruit of being nearly a decade old, World of Tanks isn’t demanding at all when it comes to system requirements. Most of the components are either discontinued or extremely hard to come by, which highlights just how forgiving the game is.

The minimum system requirements will net you 30 fps at 720p with the settings on low. The fact it only needs a two-core CPU says a lot about how low the requirements are to get the game up and running.

The recommended settings allow you to push the resolution to 1080p with the settings on high for a stable 60 fps. As always, results vary based on specific machines. Thankfully, World of Tanks has a generous array of in-game graphical settings to toy with to find a performance level that works.

To run World of Tanks on top settings, developer Wargaming recommends an Intel Core i5-7400 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, 8 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 570.

It’s worth noting that as an MMO, you’ll need a constant Broadband internet connection to play World of Tanks.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

While World of Tanks works with a modern integrated GPU, we recommend opting for a dedicated GPU to get the most out of the game. As such, our $500 build offers a firm foundation to run the game at over 60 fps on the highest resolutions with the settings on ultra.

The build features an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, 8 GB Radeon RX 570 GPU, and 16 GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM. Not only will you be comfortably exceeding the recommended settings for World of Tanks, but you’ll also have an excellent basis to play a wide selection of more demanding modern titles.
