However, you can get guaranteed drops from drowned mobs that hold shells in off-hands. You can hold Nautilus shells in your off-hand the same way drowned enemies can.

Another way to get Nautilus shells is by trading with wandering traders if they set up near villages or in their homes. Wandering traders have a chance of selling Nautilus shells but you will need Emeralds to purchase them.

If you want to explore underwater, a conduit is essential as it allows you to breathe underwater. All you need to do is create conduits and set them inside Prismerine block rings. To craft a conduit, you will need a total of eight Nautilus shells and one heart of the sea.
