The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope Releases October 30th

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, the second standalone entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology episodic series, releases on October 30, publisher Bandai Namco announced today. Much like the first installment, Little Hope lands on the usual trifecta of PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The survival horror game was initially scheduled to launch this summer. As has been the story for so many publishers, the coronavirus derailed Bandai Namco’s plans, forcing a release date shift to Halloween. Given the subject matter, the news couldn’t be any more fitting.

A new trailer is doing the rounds to mark the announcement, offering a brief glimpse of the eerie titular town of Little Hope where the game unfolds. Much like the first The Dark Picture Anthology: Man of Medan, you play as a cast of characters. Each decision affects how the characters, their interpersonal relationships, and the overarching narrative evolve as the story progresses. With several endings and a multitude of paths, each play-through has the potential to be significantly different.

Until Dawn Developer Supermassive Games describes what’s in store for players as follows:

“Trapped by a mysterious fog in the abandoned town of Little Hope, four college students and their professor search desperately for a means of escape whilst visions from the town’s gruesome and sinister past haunt them from the shadows. In order to stay alive, they must uncover the mysteries behind these dark apparitions before evil forces drag each of their souls to hell!

Each new game in The Dark Pictures Anthology will deliver a new cinematic horror experience playable in single and multiplayer including Shared Story playable with a friend online and Movie Night mode where up to 5 players can play together offline and pass-the-pad.

WELCOME TO LITTLE HOPE
Witness terrifying visions of the past, haunted by the events of the XVIIth century Andover Witch Trials.

SAVE YOUR SOULS…
Escape the nightmarish apparitions that relentlessly pursue your cast.

DON’T PLAY ALONE
Play online with a friend or up to 5 friends offline, share your story and cooperate wisely to save your cast.”

Editions and Pre-Orders

The Dark Picture Anthology: Little Hope ships in three editions – a Standard Edition, Limited Edition, and Collector’s Edition.

Limited to only participating retailers (the name gives it away), the Limited Edition packs in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, a The Dark Picture Anthology world cloth map, four-disc slot steel book case, and two collectible map pins.

As a standalone game, Little Hope doesn’t require a play-through of Man of Medan, but if you’re tempted, the Limited Edition is a perfect, bundled, cost-effective way to experience both games.

The Collector’s Edition includes the game itself alongside a collector’s box, a The Dark Picture Anthology world cloth map, two collectible map pins, a four-disc slot steel book case, and a 15cm replica of Mary’s rag doll.

Pre-ordering any of the three editions grants early access to The Curator’s Cut. The Cut includes new scenes in addition to the theatrical cut and different playable characters with new choices and outcomes.
