Leaked Benchmarks See Matisse Refresh Outclass 10th-Gen Intel Comet Lake CPUs

AMD’s Matisse Refresh is seemingly everywhere these days with yet more news today that AMD’s upcoming chips will outperform Intel’s Comet Lake CPUs.

Or, at least, that’s according to a new benchmark results leak, which suggests AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 5 3600XT processors are primed to give Intel’s new chips a run for their money.

The benchmark comes courtesy of CPU-Monkey, which catalogs CPUs and their performance in a database. Given that AMD has yet to announce the Matiss Refresh processors in any official capacity, we recommend taking this with the requisite amount of skepticism.

CineBench R20 and Cinebench R15 ran reported pre-release samples of AMD’s Ryzen 3900 XT, Ryzen 7 3800 XT, and Ryzen 5 3600 XT through their paces in single-core and multi-core tests.

In Cinebench 20 single-core tests, AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900 XT hit a score of 542 compared to 539 for Intel’s Core i9-10900K. The Ryzen 7 3800 XT landed 531 as did the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 XT, scoring higher than Intel’s Core i9-10900, Core i9-10900F, Core i7-10700KF, Core i7-10700K, and Core i5-10600K. Not only are these trumping their direct competitors, but surpassing the majority of the Core i9 models.

Turning to Cinebench R15, the story is reversed, with Intel beating out AMD in single-core results. The Core i9-10900K takes the top spot with 234 points compared to the AMD Ryzen 9 3900 XT’s 226 points. We note a similar trend moving down to the Ryzen 7 3800 XT and Ryzen 3600 XT with 217 points each. The score beats the Core i5-10600K’s 215 points but lags behind the 228 points produced by the Core i7-10700K.

Moving to multi-core tests, AMD once again takes the lead, with a significant jump in scores compared to Intel’s Comet Lake chips. In Cinebench R20, the AMD Ryzen 9 3900 XT scored 7479 points compared to the i9-10900K’s 6399 points. The Ryzen 7 3800 XT beats out the i7-10700K, with 5297 points to 5292 points. Finally, the Ryzen 5 3600 XT scored 4007, comfortably dwarfing the 3647 points of the Core i5-10600K.

Cinebench R15 multi-core results offer a similar conclusion, although the Core i7-10700K does beat AMD’s Ryzen 7 3800 XT with 2344 points to 2317. Otherwise, the Ryzen 9 3900 XT and Ryzen 5 3600 XT comfortably outclass their Intel counterparts – the Core i9-10900K and Core i5 10600K, respectively.

Aside from the benchmark results, CPU-Monkey also states the all-core boost clock speeds for all the Matisse Refresh CPUs. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900 XT’s 12 cores hit 4.6 GHz, while the Ryzen 7 3800 XT has an all-core boost of 4.5 GHz, and the Ryzen 5 3600 XT runs up to 4.5 GHz on six cores.

It’s worth reiterating that the information isn’t confirmed. Even if it is, we are looking at pre-release samples meaning AMD is likely to change specifications ahead of release.

As for when we can expect to hear more, AMD is reportedly gearing up to announce the Matisse Refresh CPUs on June 16th with its eye on a full retail launch on July 7th.
