Release Date Set For Samsung’s New Odyssey G9 Gaming Monitor

We first heard word of Samsung’s plans to release a new ultrawide gaming monitor, with a dual quad high definition resolution back at CES 2020 earlier in the year, and now Samsung has confirmed when it will be made available to purchase. It’s going to be released in June 2020. It’s a little strange to announce a release date for some time this month without a specific day in mind, at time of writing there are only 6 days left in the month. Perhaps supply chain issues have made it trickier to pin down the exact date, but we’ll keep an eye out for this impressive new model hitting retailers.

This new version of the Odyssey G9, with the model number “C49G95T”, is a big step up from previous models, pushing display technology to the next level.

DQHD equates to an extremely impressive resolution of 5120×1440 in this massive 32:9 aspect ratio 49 Inch monitor. It supports framerates of up to 240Hz, has an immersive 1000R curvature. It’s a great machine for responsive high framerate gaming, with support for both G-Sync and FreeSync, plus response times of just 1ms. This is also the first consumer monitor to support the HRD10+ standard, for high levels of color accuracy with supported content and devices.

It’s a gorgeous looking display, and if you want a top-end gaming monitor to go with your high-performance rig, this seems like an excellent choice. We’ll keep an eye out for exact pricing information when it does become available at retail, which should be some time soon.
