Red Dead Redemption 2 System Requirements

One of the biggest games to release last year, Red Dead Redemption 2 was an almost overnight success after a long-hyped release. Since its release on PlayStation and Xbox, it has won several awards and became a record-breaking game, generating a huge $725 million in sales during its opening weekend.

Although most of us were disappointed at first that we’d have to wait a while to get our hands on it, Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally coming to PC. Those of you who have been checking for updates almost religiously will be pleased to know that Rockstar Games announced that the game will soon be coming to PC.

Game Details

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an action-adventure game and is the third entry in the Red Dead series, coming after the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption.

The story is set in 1899 and follows outlaw Arthur Morgan who attempts to survive rival gangs, government forces and other opponents in a declining Wild West backdrop. As a member of Dutch’s gang, who you will not-so-fondly remember from the first game, you will see first-hand just how his story unfolded.

The game is told through a first and third-person perspective which gives the player a chance to freely roam in an open world, now famous for its aesthetic quality. You’ll explore the vast map through the different chapters the game puts you through as well as experience the award-winning storytelling Rockstar has been working on.

It’s not just the main storyline that is on offer here though, you can engage in countless activities, sidequests, hunting, robberies and shootouts for as long as you want. Once the introduction chapter is over you are free to explore as you see fit.

If you want a break from the action of the main storyline then there is an expansive multiplayer world that you can dive into. Players from the Grand Theft Auto franchise will feel right at home here as it has a number of similarities to Grand Theft Auto V. Don’t be mistaken though, this is a wholly different experience.

Hardware Suggestions

As this is a game that’s so visually appealing, you need a PC to run it in a way that does the visuals justice. Minimum requirements are a good starting point, but this is a game that needs the recommended requirements at least. We’d suggest going above and beyond what’s recommended to truly take advantage of how this game performs.

If you are looking to build a new system from scratch, it would be a good idea to look at some of our build guides – especially the higher-end ones if playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on ultra settings is your aim!

With rumors that this title may utilize Direct X 12, if you want to play it at its most extreme settings and have it run smoothly, then you may need to think about looking at some more powerful GPUs.
