Doom Eternal System Requirements

Can I Run Doom Eternal?

If you’re excited to get your hands on the newest Doom title, you aren’t the only ones! While Doom Eternal was originally delayed until March 20, 2020, we have now finally got some solid information on the kind of computer you’ll need to run this game smoothly and let’s just say if you are planning on playing at 4K, you might need to make a bit of an investment!

However, it isn’t all bad news, as long as you make sure you match these requirements, you’ll be in good stead to play Doom when it releases later this month.

If you aren’t quite sure how to find your specifications for your system, don’t worry! We have put together a short little guide on how to find them. Once you have these written down, you simply need to compare them to the minimum and recommended requirements below to get an idea of how well your system will run Doom Eternal.

We’re still developing a tool to help accomplish this automatically, this will save you a lot of time and confusion when trying to work out if you can run these games. It’s still in the development mode at the moment but we’ll keep you updated with any news once we have it.

Doom Eternal Game Details

  • System Requirements: High-Ultra
  • Genre: First-person shooter

Doom Eternal will be the latest release in the popular Doom franchise. Players will yet again have the chance to take control of Doom Slayer in his quest to battle the forces of Hell.

This title is a first-person shooter that pits hordes of enemies against you. Players will have to constantly push forward in levels in order to make a dent in the many waves of enemies. You’ll yet again have access to a multitude of weapons to take down your foes including a combat shotgun, rocket launcher, plasma rife and fan favorite, the BFG 9000.

As far as enemies go, there are going to be twice as many demons as there were in the last game. These demons will also make use of a new system that allows their bodies to become progressively destroyed during combat. You’ll want your graphics settings turned up for this title!

This title will also feature a new multiplayer mode called “Battlemode” which allows players to face off against a playable selection of demons that the opposition controls. These demons come with their own set of abilities that you will have to combat.

Optimal Hardware Suggestions

It’s always great news when the developer or publisher gives us a list of specifications as well as an idea of what they can achieve. In this case, if you simply want to experience the fast-paced action of Doom Eternal, you’ll be able to cope with just hitting the minimum requirements that will allow you to game at a resolution of 1080p at 60 FPS on low settings.

We bet that this isn’t the way you’ll want to experience Doom Eternal if you want to play the game in all of its beautiful gory glory. You’ll want to aim to hit the recommended system requirements which should be good enough for gaming at a resolution of 1440p at 60 FPS on high-quality settings. Of course, if you have no desire to play at 1440p, you won’t need hardware as beefy as this.

Now for the fun part, if you want to experience the game on the best settings available, you’re going to need some pretty impressive hardware! The recommended specifications for playing at this level will allow you to play at a 4K resolution at 60FPS on the best settings. Even if you opt for the cheapest combination of a Ryzen 7 3700X and an AMD Radeon VII, the release date of March 20th doesn’t leave you long to save up the almost $900 for an upgrade!

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

With the system requirements for this game being quite varied, it can be tough to decide what kind of system to recommend. We know that this game will be something special when run on its maximum settings but we also know that this will be way out of many people’s price range.

If you just want to play the game at 1080p at a 60 FPS and have the settings still set pretty high, we’d recommend aiming for the recommended settings with something like the build below.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC

If you’re building from scratch and are looking for somewhere to start from, why not take a look at our build for the best gaming PC under $1000, or even one of our high-end builds if you’re looking to match the ‘Ultra Nightmare’ specifications. If you go for a system like this, you’ll no doubt be able to play anything coming out in the next couple of years!

  1. I have an I5-3470 with a GTX 1050TI 4gb, 12gb ddr3 ram. Will my computer perish? Or can I run it fine without overheating?

    • I think you should be fine. GTX 970 performance-wise is slightly above the GTX 1050 Ti. This FX may be a little bottleneck, but I think if you encounter any performance hickups you’d be probably able to easy overclock it to 4GHz per core with the safe on-board overclocker.

    • Prob need a new Processor and faster RAM. My recommendation is a Ryzen 5 3600 with a B450 MSI Tomahawk Max motherboard, and your choice of DDR4 ram with 3000 or higher MHZ for a budget build. Your gpu should be fine though prob at medium.
