A home theatre projector is an alternative worth considering vs a large TV this Black Friday, offering a lighter, more easily stored option, which still gives a top-class cinematic experience (arguably even closer to being in the cinema), albeit with slightly less vibrancy than TVs offer. The best of the premium options in our opinion is the Sony VPL-VW590ES, which does give great, vibrant color replication and contrast ratio, really making those images pop on the native 4K footage it projects. Motion tracking is also great, which is really a strength for Sony projectors in particular, meaning faster-moving footage or sports look top class. The Sony VPL-VW290ES is a decent alternative, but it doesn’t quite have the same high-end image quality for not that much cheaper.

The best Sony multi channel home theatre setups
If you’re looking for more than just a standalone soundbar, the Sony HT-ST5000 with Dolby Atmos support is a great choice for those who still want to still have a minimal setup; coming as it does with the soundbar plus a single subwoofer, but still offering 7.1.2 surround sound. The sound quality is superb and it has great, throbbing bass replication, as well as being Chromecast compatible. If you want a true multi-channel surround sound setup with all the speakers then the Sony BDV-N7200W 5.1 channel surround sound system is a great option and comes with a dedicated receiver that plays Blu-Ray and 3D content. The speakers are connected via wi-fi so you won’t have to trip over any wires in your home theater environment.
