Players logging into Fortnite are already starting to receive the new Fortnite Crescent Shroom Pickaxe, which Epic Games are giving away following downtime and Winterfest gift confusion.
Over the festive period, during Fortnite’s popular Winterfest event, the Battle Royale game had serious, unplanned server issues, eventually causing the servers to be completely shut down by Epic Games for a number of hours. As a result, the developer announced a Power Leveling weekend as well as a free pickaxe for those who logged into Fortnite during Winterfest.
How to claim free Crescent Shroom Pickaxe
The Crescent Shroom Pickaxe was never meant to be free to players, and is actually part of an upcoming, paid-for Outfit bundle featuring NPC Madcap. Madcap and his accompanying Crescent Shroom Pickaxe will still appear in the shop in the future, as confirmed by Epic Games on Twitter, but the Harvesting Tool alone is being gifted out early to players who were denied access to the game’s servers during the downtime.
You don’t need to do anything to claim the Pickaxe. Instead, if you are eligible for the reward, it will show up when you log in. Simply click ‘Claim’ or ‘Equip’ when you see the Pickaxe to add it to your locker. It will take some time for the item to be rolled out to all accounts, though, so don’t panic if yours doesn’t appear just yet. You’ll be eligible for the reward if you simply logged into Fortnite at any point during Winterfest.
Fortnite Power Leveling Weekend
As well as Fortnite’s free Crescent Shroom Pickaxe, Epic Games are also implementing a Power Leveling weekend starting from January 7th, 2022, running until January 10th, 2022. Take a look at the table below for exact start and end times for the Power Leveling event, and take advantage of the supercharged XP to level up your Battle Pass.
