What is the New Kid On The Block achievement in Halo Infinite?

To get the New Kid On The Block achievement and 50G Xbox gamerscore, then you’ll need to get a Perfect Medal with the Commando Rifle. If you don’t know what that means, then read on!

What is the VK78 Commando Rifle?

VK78 Commando Halo Infinite

The VK78 Commando Rifle is a new UNSC weapon designed by humans to take on the forces of The Banished. It’s the first new human-made assault rifle to be added to the series since Halo 2, which introduced the Battle Rifle. The Commando is a fully automatic weapon that has quite a bit of recoil and can only hold 20 rounds, so you’ll likely want to just pepper your shots if you want to be accurate and deadly with it.

It is most effective at medium range, thanks to a 3x tactical scope. We don’t really think it can properly hold its own against the Battle Rifle or the Assault Rifle at other ranges, so it is a very situational weapon overall. At closer ranges the VK78 Commando Rifle can be viable, but only if you can adjust for the somewhat extreme recoil effectively. Another interesting thing about the Commando Rifle is that it often spawns in the same locations as the Battle Rifle, meaning it is available on most maps in one or two places per match.

How do I get a Perfect Medal in Halo Infinite?

If you want to get a Perfect Medal in Halo Infinite, then you’ll need to hit all of your rifle shots and then finish off an enemy with a headshot. If you miss even a single round during a combat encounter with a foe, then you won’t qualify for it and will have to try again. This medal is entirely skill based, so if you’re not a great shot then you’ll have to search out someone that is AFK and trade in your dignity for the 50G gamerscore.
