Spartan Locke is a character that is divisive among the Halo fandom, largely because he is one of the main leads of Halo 5: Guardians, a game that is pretty disliked by Halo series faithfuls overall. Locke was heavily marketed in the lead up to the game as the Spartan that would go head-to-head in a fight with Master Chief, and potentially even become the main character of the series itself, only to disappoint everyone by being a pretty boring guy with weak motivations.

Still he (for some reason) has his fans, and those fans want to know where he is in the latest series entry Halo Infinite, particularly because it seems like most of the other new Spartan characters have been killed at the hands of Jega ‘Rdomnai and the Spartan Killers of The Hand of Atriox.

Where did we leave Spartan Locke and Fireteam Osiris at the end of Halo 5?

At the end of Halo 5: Guardians, Spartan Locke and Fireteam Osiris have recovered Master Chief and determined that he is not in fact a traitor. Sadly, they’ve also already been thrown into a worse situation. Cortana is back, she is a traitor, and has declared war on the universe with her AI friends.

The UNSC Infinity goes on the run, using randomized slipspace jumps to stop themselves from being followed by the computer-folk. The Infinity ends up in a combat encounter in the orbit of a Halo ring sometime later, and that’s where the story of Halo Infinite begins …

Where to find Spartan Locke in Halo Infinite

Spartan Locke Halo Infinite 1

In our playtime with Halo Infinite, we saw very few signs of Spartan Locke. In fact, chances are that the leader of Fireteam Osiris is probably alive! With a little searching you can find a UNSC Audio Log where Dr. Halsey asks Master Chief if she should send Spartan Locke on the mission to delete Cortana instead. Chief says that won’t be necessary, in a move that is both a vote of self confidence and a wink at the Halo series’ fans gripes with Halo 5.

Ahead of Halo Infinite’s release, a licensed Halo Infinite Mega Bloks toy set went on sale that featured a Jiralhanae Brute wearing Spartan Locke’s helmet as a shoulder pad. It turns out that this Brute is Hyperius from The Hand of Atriox. While a helmet isn’t a confirmed death, which leaves the Spartan-IV’s fate up in the air for now, it doesn’t look like things have gone well for Spartan Locke.

  1. Just because it’s a helmet looking like Locke’s doesn’t mean it’s him there’s many Spartans with the same helmet

  2. But hyperious appears on the campaign and have Lock’s helmet on his shoulder, don’t make an article if you doesn’t know.

    • I mean we have a picture of the brute’s megablox toy and a sentence on Hyperious at the bottom of the article. Don’t comment if you doesn’t read.

  3. Brute’s name is Hyperius. He’s a boss about midway through the campaign. If you dont blow all of his armor off before he dies, you can see Locke’s helmet on it just like the Mega Construx figure and the action figure.

    • Oh, it makes sense I didn’t notice it then — I jacked his bike and shot him from really far away! I’ll update.

    • I must’ve just not spotted it during the fight. Thanks for letting me know! I’ll still hope Locke is okay and update this article accordingly.
