Remember last year when all anybody was talking about was New World from Amazon Games? Seems a long time ago now and the initial success and hype were replaced by a player base who rapidly got fed-up with what they perceived as a lack of support from the dev when it came to game-breaking bugs and hacks.
Old news though, plenty of people have stuck with it, and with this new update on the horizon, Amazon will be hoping to coax a few who ran for the hills back into the trenches once more.
New World Heart of Madness release date
The new Heart of Madness content will hit the PTR (public test realm) shortly in what Amazon is calling the March version of the PTR. Once there it will be heavily playtested before eventually making its way into New World proper.
Heart of Madness new weapon
The blunderbuss, which always has been a great word, is a ranged weapon coming to the game in the update. The devs tell us it is the first weapon in the game capable of scaling on strength and intelligence, which makes it a good choice for mage and bruiser builds.
- The Containment tree is all about closing the gap and unloading hot lead into your enemy’s face.
- Conversely, the Chaos tree focuses on keeping your distance and bombarding areas with explosive AoE damage.
New World Legendary Weapon Quest
This bit sounds interesting: “Upon reaching Level 60 and the maximum skill level with the new firearm, players should seek out Wang Tang Zhi in Ebonscale Reach settlement to start this epic endeavor.”
There are no further details on this but the fact it provides encouragement to specialize in the new weapon for extra content is a cool twist.
New World Heart of Madness expedition
This update will conclude the story of Isabella. The main story quest line picks up as you pursue Isabella back to Shattered Mountain, leading to an epic final showdown. If you have been playing along to this quest line it looks like you will finally get some conclusion, although it certainly doesn’t sound like it will be simple.
The Tempest’s Heart is an endgame expedition for 5 players. Recommended for level 60 players with Gearscore 550 or above.
Heart of Madness balance updates and bug fixes
We are promised a “swathe of bug fixes” and “impactful” balance changes across a variety of weapons. Some of these will have been a long time coming, so it will be good to see if they help the masses fall back in love with the game.
