Cubone has been available in Pokémon GO for some time, as has its gen 1 evolution Marowak. But can Cubone and Marowak be encountered in their shiny forms in Pokémon GO? And what about the more recent Alolan Marowak?

One of the first generation of Pokémon, Cubone is instantly recognisable by many a Pokémon fan, but what you might not know is it’s tragic backstory. Can Cubone be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Cubone in Pokémon GO

If you need any additional reason to go on the hunt for these poor Pokémon, aptly and miserably called the Lonely Pokémon, you do have a chance of encountering its shiny variant in Pokémon GO. A lovely green variant, you’ll immediately know if it’s shiny or not when you see it. While Cubone was released with the game during its 2016 release, it’s shiny variant didn’t come until over two years later, in the November of 2018.

Can Marowak be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Yes. Technically, Marowak’s shiny form is also available in Pokémon GO, but you’ll need to evolve it from shiny Cubone. In order to evolve Cubone to Marowak in Pokémon GO, all you’ll need is 50 Cubone Candies – hopefully you’ll have these since Cubone has been around so long.

What about Alolan Marowak?

Ghost 2

Alolan Marowak was introduced in the Sun & Moon games, and is also available in Pokémon GO. With normal Alolan Marowak Introduced in July 2018, shiny Alolan Marowak was added just a few months later in November 2018, alongside Cubone and its Kanto counterpart.
