Fomantis is one of the Gen VII Pokémon from the Alola region making its Pokémon GO Debut as part of the Season of Alola. When Rockruff was released as part of the same season, it debuted in both its normal and shiny variants at the same time. But was Fomantis given the same treatment? Let’s find out!

Can Fomantis be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Can Fomantis be shiny in Pokémon GO

As of its release in March 2022, Fomantis cannot be shiny in Pokémon GO. Unfortunately, it wasn’t released in its shiny and normal forms at the same time, as Rockruff was. Perhaps Niantic felt we’d been treated enough already! Plus, there are still two parts of the Season of Alola to come, so there may be more shiny Pokémon on the horizon.

What does Fomantis evolve into?

The adorable little Grass-type Pokémon Fomantis evolves into Lurantis, another Grass-type Pokémon. Lurantis is a beautiful Pokémon that resembles a vibrant flower (wearing awesome striped pants, obviously). Also known as the Bloom Sickle Pokémon, Lurantis plays quite a major part in Alola’s lore, as a Totem Lurantis lives on Akala Island, which is perhaps why it – and Fomantis – are the focus of the An Akala Adventure Research Story in Pokémon GO.

As with Fomantis, Lurantis cannot yet by shiny in Pokémon GO. We’ll likely have to wait for another event long after the Season of Alola has finished before we’ll be introduced to shiny Fomantis and Lurantis. In the meantime, just concentrate on catching yourself a strong and beautiful Lurantis for your Pokémon GO dex!
