The Rapid Responder is -awesome-. I’m baffled why you’d say “Its range, accuracy, and stability are all poor” when that’s kind of the point of a rapid-fire auto-shotgun. The weak-point damage is -supposed- to be low because each pellet can hit the weak point, meaning its hit multiple times; and the wide spread ensures that it will almost always hit the weak point at least once (in fact, every other shotgun in the game has the same weak point damage, and they all fire much slower). It also has the same base damage as the Type 21, the only other mag-fed shotgun in the game; and the Type 21 has a slower fire rate and lower Stumble chance (at 20%).

Speaking of which- the 25% Stumble chance is nothing to sneeze at, either. That’s one out of every four shots to slow a xeno down; and with a fire rate of 4.4 that means one enemy Stumbling every second. The only other shotties with a higher stumble chance are the Medved (at 30% base) and the Kramer Short Barrel (at 50% base), and both of them have a slower fire rate, lower max ammo, and lower mag capacity; the Kramer has lower stability, and the Medved has only slightly better accuracy and stability.

Not enough? The Rapid Responder can also use the Holo Sight attachment, bumping up its accuracy; but on hit it adds a stackable (up to 5 times) +5% Stumble chance. So that’s either up to 50% if it’s additive, or 31% if it’s multiplicative; either way, that’s more stumbling per second.

… Oh wait. The Technician gets to use this weapon, right?

Awesome- because they should be using –Resonating Impact– as one of their perks; a 10% chance for their turret to Stumble targets- and an extra 10% damage to any target Stumbled by the turret or Tech.

  I find the weaknesses make the Rapid Responder rather niche. The old faithful in S Tier seems to be generally more reliable, but, if you’re making it work then good for you. I appreciate your reasoning so if anyone else stumbles on this then they can give it a go. Enough people tell me otherwise I’ll crank it up to A Tier ^^

Rapid Responder is easily A Tier. I have mine setup for 16 rounds, increased rate of fire, and increased weak point damage. Use the magazine for increased reload on empty mag. It does 1.4k weakpoint damage a shot. I don’t know many guns that can do 20k damage in a few seconds. It’s a massive DPS machine that shreds fodder and melts elites. It’s the only pistol I run.

Gotta say, y’all are way off on the M42A3 Snippet Rifle. I’ve ran them all and this one is by far the best one in the game. It’s the only sniper rifle that should be in S tier.

    Yeah, I can imagine it’s fairly decent on those maps but I feel that makes it limited in its accessibility. Which class are you running it on by the way so I can give it a go myself and see what you mean?

When it comes to stats I thought the shotgun you start with was the best, but decided to try other shotguns and found that it is hard to judge by stats. Like the one you start with seemed like the best, but then there was another that had a clip instead of individual loads, which created a completely different dimension to judging the shotguns. The Medved loads both shells with a single reload, so while you only have 2 shots if you stop loading the starter shotgun to shoot there is a delay before you can shoot, so ultimately with the Medved you get more shots off in the same amount of time. Stumble can be a lifesaver at times that offsets less damage on any weapon. Then it also depends on your teammates. If you are with a group that rushes, people who go their own way, or a group that bunkers down then different guns with different stats can be better with each situation. For example if you are a sniper in a situation where you have someone who has your back a high damage sniper route is better, but if you have a team with people that are going to let the fodder swarm you then you are better off with a low damage fast sniper style.

  For the reasons you pointed out, I was baffled why the article counted the Rapid Responder as C-tier. Even without counting the Technician’s Resonating Impact perk, the base stats right out of the gate make it an excellent close-range choice.

There’s a lot more weapons to unlock, some of them quite powerful. These are basically the weapons you start with, the weapons in the shop, and some of the first you unlock.
