Almost every retailer under the sun will be slashing prices on some of the industry’s best-performing monitors – finding the best of the bunch does require a certain amount of knowledge in prices and performance.

Which monitors will be discounted this Black Friday

It’s one of the biggest questions we receive around this time of year and one that is easy to answer – hundreds. That’s right, Black Friday is easily the biggest sales event of the year and one that plays host to some electrifyingly hot deals on monitors. Apologies about going Rock on your there.

As we look back on the month so far, we can see that deals have started to ramp up the closer we get to November 26th. The start of the month showcased deals that ranged in the $50-150 sector – which, in fairness, isn’t bad at all. However, as we worked our way through the month, we saw bigger deals on higher-end monitors that reached $500, respectively.

Right now, we’re on Black Friday’s doorstep and deals are at their most attractive. The Samsung Odyssey ‘G’ series is on offer over at Samsung Direct and you can save a whopping $500 off the Neo G9 – one of the best monitors out there. Other brands have been following suit, so be sure to keep refreshing this page as we’ll be adding new deals as and when they go live.

How to buy the best monitor this Black Friday?

So, how exactly do you buy a great monitor this Black Friday – and more importantly, how do you choose the one which is right for your needs? If you’re new to PC gaming – or PCs in general – you’ll want to read this next section.

Black Friday monitor buying tips

Below we’ll be listing all the major factors that you’ll want to take into consideration when purchasing a monitor.

Screen size – Starting off with the basics, we have size. The size of your monitor plays a major role in your decision-making process, especially if you’re the sort of person that likes to consume a lot of content. Obviously, if you plan on watching movies, TV shows, and playing casual games, you’ll likely want to choose a larger panel size (32+inches). Alternatively, if your main priority is esports gaming, you’ll want to aim for something a little smaller (24-27 inches).

Panel type – There are three major types of panel – IPS, TN, and VA – all of which offer up their own unique set of pros and cons. IPS panels are the most expensive and offer the best color reproduction. TN panels are a gamer’s dream, providing the highest levels of speed and response. VA panels sit somewhere in the middle – offering OK colors, OK response, and great contrast ratio.

Resolution – Always consider whether your PC can handle the resolution of your monitor before buying. The latest 4K monitors seem great, however, you’ll be surprised at how demanding they can be on your system. You’ll need a high-end RTX 30series or RX 6000series GPU to even consider a 4K monitor for gaming.

Refresh rate – The refresh rate is how quickly your monitor refreshes the image on screen. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the visual experience will be. Remember, with each incremental jump in refresh speed, you’ll see a jump in pricing.

Response time – Response time is how long it takes for the pixels to change color – usually using the GTG transition. The slower the response time of your monitor, the more ghosting and smearing it will produce. Look for a monitor of 1ms if you want to game, 5ms for everything else.

What computer monitor brands will be discounted this year?

There are hundreds of monitors in today’s market and a tonne of manufacturers to go with it. Like all products, some manufacturers are much better than others when it comes to making displays. For that reason, we’ll be listing the most prestigious brands out there so you don’t get stung by a knock-off maker.

  • Alienware
  • AOC
