Yugioh Master Duel – Meta Deck Guide – Sky Striker

The Yugioh Master Duel meta is a diverse one currently. For those who want to get to the top ranks of competitive play with no experience, it can be difficult. Well don’t worry, these guides will take you through Master Duels best decks, their goals, combos, and what you should be seeing at the end of your turns.

The type of card in a deck will be broken down into a few categories:

Searcher – This card lets you search your deck for another card

Extender – This card will special summon itself or another card

Starter – A card that will begin your combo

Interrupter – A card that allows for interaction on your opponent’s turn, be this negate, destroy, or return a card to the hand.

Finisher – A card intended to finish up games by attacking

Sky Striker

If you are a fan of mecha anime, playing spell cards, and only having 1 monster on the field then this could be the deck for you. Sky Striker are easy to play but hard to learn competitive deck that has a series of powerful spell cards that have stronger effects if you have 3 or more spell cards in your grave. This is not only a great competitive deck but a great deck to learn about link summoning from as your single main deck monster has 6 different extra deck forms, this really is a mecha anime.

The Deck

Main deck

Sky Striker Ace – Raye (Starter)

Raye is your normal summon and starter. She is the way you will be summoning your extra deck monsters and has the ability to recycle herself when a Sky Striker Extra deck monster leaves the field. She can then as a quick effect to tribute herself to summon another Sky Striker Extra deck monster from your deck.

Sky Striker Ace – Roze

Roze is summons itself when you summon another Sky Striker Ace monster. This means making link 2’s is much simple. Additionally, if an opponent’s monster in the extra monster zone is destroyed while Roze is in the grave she summons herself. If summoned this way you can negate the effects of a monster of the field. So it also has utility on your opponent’s turn.

Spells

All of these require you have no monster in your main monster zone, so you can have an extra deck monster on the field or even no monster.

Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners!

Target and destroy a face-up monster, easy simple destruction. With 3 or more spells in the grave, you can destroy a Spell/Trap, even more destruction for free.

Sky Striker Maneuver – Jamming Waves!

Target and destroy a Set Spell/Trap, like afterburners but the other way around and therefore worse. With 3 or more spells in the grave, you can destroy a monster, so yeah the opposite of afterburner.

Sky Striker Maneuver – Vector Blast

Send top 2 cards of both Decks to GY, not really that useful. With 3 or more spells in the grave, Shuffle opponent’s Extra Monster Zone Monsters into the Deck. Now that’s more like it, none targeting removal.

Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster

A quick play spell that makes a target unaffected by other effects this turn. With 3 or more spells in the grave, It also cannot be destroyed by battle. A useful utility card, target your card to make it unaffected by effects that might get rid of it. Or target an opponent’s card so it is unaffected by their own cards that would give them a boost.

Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones

A quick play that Summons a Sky Striker Ace Token. With 3 or more spells in the grave, Token’s ATK/DEF are 1500 instead of 0. Your secondary way of getting out your Extra deck monsters, since you can use these tokens, is a must-have in any Sky Striker deck.

Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon

Target and banish a monster from your opponent’s GY, this can also be done on your opponent’s turn to stop any effects that would use monsters in your opponent’s grave like Eldlich decks. With 3 or more spells in the grave, you can summon that monster to your field instead of banishing but it cannot attack. Monster reborn for you with some extra steps.

Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor

A quick play negate the effects of a targeted Effect Monster, very powerful. With 3 or more spells in the grave, Can take control of the target until the End Phase. And suddenly it’s one of the best tools in your deck, quick effect monster negation and snatch steal? Incredible

Sky Striker Mecharmory – Hercules Base

An Equip spell. Equipped monsters cannot attack directly, but can attack twice. If sent to GY: Shuffle 3 other different Sky Striker cards from GY into the Deck. With 3 or more spells in the grave, you can draw 1 card when equipped monster destroys a monster by battle. Not needed and rarely used at a competitive level.

Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!

Add any other Sky Striker card from Deck to hand. With 3 or more spells in the grave, draw one card. Who let these guys have Pot of greed? Seriously it’s exactly the same, one card for two. In fact no it’s even better because you get to pick one of those two cards. This is the card that makes Sky Striker go from good to great.

Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole

Finally the peice that ties is all together. Multiroles first effect lets you send a card you control to the grave to make your other spell activations for the turn unable to be responded to. The clear intent here is to send one of your Ace links to the gravy to trigger the effect of Raye to summon her back, mitigating any advantage loss. Finally during the end phase you can set Sky Striker spells from your graveyard with different names equal to the number of Sky Striker cards actiavted while this card was face up on the feild. Just take the cards you used this turn, set them again. Obviously you need to be careful not to go below your 3 spells in grave limit.

I should also mention that these are not once per turn effects for the most part. So if you draw multiple copies you can activate them all.

Extra deck

All of these but Zeke are link ones that only requires a Sky Striker on Artibute that isnt itself. Meaning you can use any of the other Sky Strikers to go into the next one.

Sky Striker Ace – Hayate

Hayate can attack your opponent directly for 1500 damage. Not too bad if you want to end the game after some back and forth grind over a few turns. When this card has battles you can send a Sky striker card from deck to grave, getting you closer to that 3 spell card limit.

Sky Striker Ace – Kagari

Kagari lets you add a spell in your grave back to your hand, so you can recycle spell cards you used this turn and activate it again. Two activations of Engage in a turn? Don’t mind if I do. Kagari also gains 100 ATK for each spell in your grave.

Sky Striker Ace – Kaina

When summoned lets you stop an opponent’s monster from attacking for the turn, not bad if summoned on your opponent’s turn. You also gain 100 LP each time you activate a sky striker spell card.

Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku

While you control Shizuku monsters your opponent controls lose 100 ATK/DEF for each spell in your graveyard. Once per turn you can add 1 Sky Striker Spell from your Deck to your hand, with a name different from the cards in your grave. Your go-to first link monster to climb into. Starting from a Raye or a Hornet drone token then using Shizuku to search for the Spell you need for the situation you are currently in.

Sky Striker Ace – Zeke

The only Link-2 in the Sky Striker Arctpyes. If Link summoned you can a face-up monster and banish it until the end phase. You can also target a card you control and send it to the grave to have this card gain 1000 ATK. This is inteded to be used by sending the other Ace Links to the grave, this lets you summon back Raye and then use her to go into a differnt link while gaining an ATK buff.

Additional card

This Deck had so much space left over it can fit up to 12 hand traps in it, which in the Master Duel metagame gives its an incredible advantage over many decks

Maxx “C”

Every time your opponent summons a monster you draw a card.

Ash Blossom and Joyus Spring

Negates your opponent’s card effects that adds cards from the deck, send them to the grave, or special summons from the deck. Easy negation of some of the strongest effects in the game.

Effect Veiler

Negate the effects of a monster your opponent controls by discarding this card. Another great stun tool.

Nibiru, The primal being

After all of this is your opponent still making fields with 6 extra deck monsters and summoning multiple times per turn? Well, Niburu stops that. If your opponents summons more than 5 monsters in a turn you can tribute thier whole board. You then get to summon Nibiru, but they also get a Token that has the combined attack of all monsters tribute to summon Nibiru. So be careful, try not to give your opponent a 12000 ATK point rock.

Power cards

A term used to describe generically powerful that can get your combos started or equalize the game with powerful board wipes.

Raigeki, Harpies feather duster and Lightning Storm

All of these cards destroy your opponent’s board on turn two of the game. Raigeki destroys all monsters, feather duster all spells/traps, and Lightning Storm lets you pick attack position monsters or spell/traps. You get one copy of Raigeki for free so it’s a great generic going the second tool.

These are also great tools be force your opponent’s negation effects. If your opponent has a single monster then negates the effects activating a Raigeki would mean that are forced to activate it or lose that monster. Same with feather duster, they can either activate their set cards or let them go. Either way you gain an advantage.

Forbidden Droplet

A mass negation tool that when used correctly give you total control of the game. You can discard cards and then negate the effects of monster up the number of cards you discarded, already very powerful. However, depending on what you discard your opponent cannot respond that that same type of card. So say you discard a spell and a monster, your opponent can now only activate traps in response to Droplet’s effect. It also halves the attack of the monsters you targeted but that isnt much compared to the total control this card gives you.

Budget options

These are the cards that will be rare or lower, easier to get, and fill out the gaps the UR and SRs you might not be able to afford can make.

Torrential Tribute is a trap that destroys all of your opponent’s monsters when they summon one. Very powerful effect to stop your opponents turn in their traps.

Paleozoic dinomischus is a great removal tool, discard a card to banish one of your opponent’s monsters. The discarded card could be an Eldlixer or Golden land card too to get some extra value out of that trap. Dinomischus can also summon itself as a trap monster when another trap card is activated.

Dogmatika Punishment is a trap that uses monsters in your extra deck to destroy your opponent’s monsters. Simply get 3 of this rare and fill your Extra deck with the useless large attack point monsters you have in your bulk.

This deck does not need to run an extra deck, it is however very good if you can afford it. All of these cards are UR or SR.

Superdreadnout Rail Cannon Gustav max is a rank 10 XYZ that can deal 2000 damage to your opponent, a good way to finish turn in your main phase 2.

The Price and the packs

Immortal Royalty is the secret pack that Eldlich is in. Getting what you need is useful but if you just want to craft the deck, here is the amount of CP you will need for the basics of this deck. This doesn’t include any handtraps or extra deck cards not mentioned above

N-CP : 0

R-CP : 300

SR-CP: 390

UR-CP: 210

The decklist below won first in the Hey! cup. Sagisawa (鷺沢) won 6 games and lost none out of 64 other competitors. A distinct card in this deck in Lava Golem. It can tribute opponents’ monsters to summon Lava Golem on their side of the field. Golem then does 1000 effect damage to your opponent each turn.

MasterDuel S1 Eldlich
Thank you, Road of the king for this deck list

For a more “fun” deck here is a list that involves the vampire cards and not the 10 floodgates. This deck uses the Eldlixer cards to summon big vampires like Scarlet Sanguine and Voivide to make powerful XYZ, negate effects, and turn your opponent’s monsters into thralls.
