Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone Game Details

  • Release Date: March 10th, 2020 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
  • System Requirements: Medium
  • Genre: Multiplayer First-Person Battle Royale Shooter
  • Developer: Infinity Ward
  • Publisher: Activision

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone is the latest mode to join the long list of battle royale games. Activision is taking the foundations of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and dropping players into a massive map featuring familiar areas from the franchise as well as a host of new locations. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone is a free standalone mode and doesn’t require the base Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game to play.

Much like other battle royale titles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone asks players to jump in solo, duo, or as part of a squad of three players to become the last man standing in matches involving 150 players.

One of the most notable features is the Gulag respawn mechanic that sees downed players brought to a prison camp where they must engage in 1v1 combat for a chance to respawn back into the game proper. Teammates that are still alive must collect respawn tokens that give their dead allies an opportunity to duke it out in the Gulag.

Unlike other battle royale games, players spawn in armed with a pistol, and from there must gather loot strewn across the map. Weapons don’t have any attachments but instead exist in pre-made blueprints classified according to five different rarity levels. Armor is tiered in three ‘plate’ classes.

The game also features buy stations where players can spend cash, known as Plunder, collected from all and any in-game action to get better weapons, collect respawn tokens, killstreaks, gas masks, armor plates, ammunition, and pings for drop kits, which are essentially loadouts.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone is also cross-platform, so players on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One can jump into matches together.

Optimal Hardware Suggestions

Overall, the system requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone are fairly demanding and match those of the base game faithfully. The 12 GB of RAM is pretty high, so be sure you’ve got enough memory. If Modern Warfare works for you, then there’s a good chance Warzone will run without a hitch.

The minimum system requirements will net players a stable 30 fps at 720p. Depending on the specific configuration of a machine, you may be able to push higher frame rates by toying around with the in-game graphical settings.

The recommended system requirements up the performance to above 60fps at 1080p. As above, you can vary the frame rate by pushing a higher resolution or finding a nice middle ground via the in-game graphical settings.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

Although Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone is pretty demanding, you can find a build powerful enough to run it with 60 fps at 1080p for relatively cheap. We recommend our $600 build as a good starting point to play the battle royale shooter.

The build features an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, Radeon RX 580 GPU, 16 GB of DDR4 3000 MHz of RAM, and a 500 GB SSD. We’ve opted for AMD components to keep the cost down without sacrificing performance as they offer the best bang for your buck over Intel and NVIDIA equivalents.
