BenQ Logo

BenQ EX2780Q

BenQ Logo

BenQ EX2780Q

Pros
Cons

The BenQ EX2780Q gets our number one pick thanks to the hugely impressive speakers that it comes equipped with. However, this monitor isn’t just about audio – it also provides a plethora of additional features and specifications that make this monitor great for gaming, content consumption, and everyday usage.

BenQ has utilized a fairly subtle design with the EX2780Q, offering up thinnish bezels, a square base, and subtle matte coating. The base bezel features a bronze color which works nicely with the stand and the all-black rear. The rear doesn’t really offer up much in terms of design features with no cable management solution and only a subtle BenQ logo.

Aesthetics aside, the EX2780Q performs to a good standard in gaming scenarios. It features an adequate 144Hz refresh rate, 1000:1 contrast ratio, IPS panel, and 99% sRGB color gamut coverage. The 27″ inch 1440p monitor does fall short in the response department though, only offering a 5ms GTG response time which is a little sluggish when compared to today’s market.

One area the EX2780Q doesn’t disappoint, however, is the audio quality. BenQ has fitted this monitor with a 2.1 sound system that features treVolo speakers and a 5W subwoofer for a truly excellent experience. The clarity of the speakers was really impressive during our testing, beating all the other monitors that we had in the office at the time. The only thing letting it down was the volume – but, to be honest, it still offered enough for almost any usage scenario.

Gigabyte Logo

Gigabyte FV43U

Gigabyte Logo

Gigabyte FV43U

Pros
Cons

The FV43U is one of the latest big-screen gaming monitors from Gigabyte – offering up a fine balance between immersion, performance, and visuals. The FV43U is a 43″ gaming monitor that lands in the AORUS lineup of panels – meaning Gigabyte will be using only the best materials and most sort after features for it.

As far as design goes, the FV43U looks more like a TV than a gaming monitor – however, don’t let that put you off. This is very much a high-performance gaming monitor, equipped with a 144Hz refresh rate and low 1ms MPRT – making almost any gaming scenario look fluid and immersive. With that in mind, the FV43U is perfect for next-gen console gamers thanks to its HDMI 2.1 support. However, more than that, this is great for general content consumption too.

At the heart of this monitor lies a very capable VA panel which delivers a decent 4000:1 contrast ratio, inky blacks and bright whites, and decent HDR performance too. The FV43U offers an extremely wide color gamut that covers 99% of the Adobe RGB spectrum, making it a great choice for content creators and consumers alike. With VESA DisplayHDR1000 certification, users can also expect a stunning HDR experience too – great for any console or PC games that utilize the technology.

Display performance aside, the FV43U also features a quality set of speakers which can provide enough volume for good content consumption and gaming situations. While the bass is likely, treble clarity is decent and some spatial awareness is provided.

Best TV with speakers

LG OLED48C1PUB

LG OLED48C1PUB

Pros
Cons

The LG C1 is a fine 4K TV and one that deserves a spot in this guide as many still use it as a monitor today. The LG C1 series features a number of different HDMI 2.1 ports allowing you to hook up four devices at any given time. Best of all, if you prioritize sound quality in your monitor, you’ll absolutely love this as it has the loudest and best audio performance of any display in this guide.

The C1 features a sleek design that is characterized by its incredibly thin profile and glossy finish. The base of the stand is wide and features a brushed aluminum finish that works well with the rest of the monitor’s sleek styling. The back of the C1 is fairly featureless, however, a couple of vents are located on the rear to help the OLED panel cool.

Speaking of which, LG has fitted the C1 with its incredibly attractive OLED panel. This allows the TV to deliver perfect blacks, an infinite contrast ratio, and stunning HDR performance (thanks to individually lit pixels that can operate independently). Furthermore, thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate and almost instantaneous response time, the C1 provides a stunning visual experience too. HDMI 2.1 ports enable the C1 to support next-gen console gaming at 4K 120Hz, meaning this TV is great for both PC gaming and console play too.

As far as speakers are concerned, the LG C1 features a 2.2 ch audio solution that supports both Dolby Atmos and AI Sound Pro. The speaker output for the C1 is around 40W, meaning you’ll be able to get immersed in content without limitations on volume.

Overall, while the LG C1 isn’t strictly a monitor, you can use it as one. And if you do, you won’t be disappointed with the visual or audio quality it delivers.

Best ultrawide monitor with speakers
Asus Logo

Asus ROG Strix XG43VQ Monitor

Asus Logo

Asus ROG Strix XG43VQ Monitor

Pros
Cons

The ASUS XG43VQ is the only ultrawide monitor in this guide, showcasing just how good this panel actually is. Despite not having the best specifications from a performance standpoint, don’t let that take anything away from this monitor. The XG43VQ still provides a very good gaming experience that ticks a lot of the right boxes.

Aesthetically speaking, the XG43VQ is a very attractive panel. It sports a 43″ VA panel that features a 1800R curve that is said to match the curvature of your eyeball for a more natural viewing experience. That said, the stand is fairly robust and a large desk is needed.

Looks aside, the XG43VQ does perform to a good standard when compared to other 43″ ultrawide monitors in today’s market. Alongside a 1800R VA panel, users can expect a speedy 120Hz refresh rate, low 1ms MPRT (response time), and HDR support too. Like all VA panels, the XG43VQ also features a high 3000:1 contrast ratio, deep blacks, and an anti-glare matte coating.

As far as audio performance is concerned, the ASUS XG43VQ features a dual set of 5W speakers that help to deliver decent sound performance. Granted, the bass in the XG43VQ isn’t substantial, but it is enough to provide some deeper notes.

Best budget monitor with speakers

AOC CQ27G2

AOC CQ27G2

Pros
Cons

Last, but not least, is the AOC CQ27G2U/BK – a budget-tailored 1440p monitor that, despite its price tag, really seems to tick all the right boxes.

Aesthetically speaking, the AOC isn’t that special. It features a V-shaped stand and a red-on-black color theme that certainly leans more towards the gamer than the office type. The rear also lacks any substantial features but does offer a good cable management option for keeping your desk neat and tidy.

Looking at performance, the CQ27G2U definitely flirts with the idea of being a mid-tier gaming monitor. It features a 1440p screen resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and low 1ms response time. For all intents and purposes, that’s a pretty good mix of specs for a great gaming experience. Furthermore, it features FreeSync premium support which will allow for a smooth, tear-free gaming experience when FPS drops occur.

From an audible standpoint, this monitor won’t meet your needs as far as high-end sound is concerned. However, when you pair the display specs with the fact that it does feature 2 x 2W speakers, the CQ27G2U does feature good value for money.
