The Battlefield 2042 beta is well underway, with it opening up to everyone as of tomorrow (8th October). The current BF2042 beta player base has noticed a number of bugs and issues over the last two days, one of which being the ‘stuck at main menu’ problem. Bugs can be highly frustrating when all you want to do is test the game out, however, there is no need to wait for a patch with this one, the community has provided a fix.
How to fix Battlefield 2042 beta stuck at menu
So what is the issue? Well, when you boot up the Battlefield 2042 beta you are prompted to press A or X (depending on console) to progress, however, sometimes the buttons just don’t do anything. This bug is preventing some PlayStation and Xbox players from accessing the beta, so how can we fix it?
The first step is to restart your console. While your console reboots, unplug any device that is connected via USB.
Once rebooted, plug your controller back in (if wireless, connect in wired mode) and nothing else.
This should allow you to press A/X and get you past the first screen.
The amount of bugs and errors on the beta has lead many players to believe there should probably be a delay on the initial release date. No one knows whether they can fix everything and get the game playing better in the short space of time left but in any case, the game has its good and bad points, and the beta has essentially been doing its job successfully.
There was an earlier error reported simply called – Uknown error, which was appearing during matchmaking and was fairly widespread. The advice given to fix the issue was to just turn crossplay off but we are hoping this is hot fixed in time for the open beta.

It works but not with the elite 2 controller (for Xbox).
Tried all this I even have an external hard drive that I have to plug in via USB and it did not work
