Good news, Call of Duty fans! It turns out that Call of Duty Vanguard’s download size will be 30%-50% smaller than previous titles. So, let your mechanical disk rejoice as they will no lager get absolutely pounded, nor will your smaller sized SSD’s need to have everything uninstalled to play this year’s Call of Duty.

Why is the Call of Duty Vanguard download size 30% smaller?

It seems that since the Call of Duty Vanguard beta ended, Activision’s CoD developer studios have been hard at work getting the game ready for its launch on November 5. It turns out that one of the things the teams have been up to is making it much more tech-friendly. CoD Vanguard should now be roughly 30%-50% smaller in storage size thanks to new on-demand texture streaming.

The thing is, we don’t actually know how big the game is going to be on day 1. And, by the 20% difference estimation, neither does Activision. When the Black Ops Cold War preload kicked off, players had to deal with the following Back Ops Cold War download sizes when the Black Ops Cold War preload kicked off.

  • PC: 35 GB (Multiplayer Only) / 82GB (Full Game) / 125GB (Full Game on Ultra Graphics)
  • PlayStation 4: 95GB
  • PlayStation 5: 133GB
  • Xbox One: 93GB
  • Xbox Series X|S: 136GB

By the summer of this year, the game was over 200GB in size, with everything updated, including Warzone. Due to examples like this, Call of Duty has gained a rather big reputation of its download size, being the first and only boss of getting into Call of Duty or Warzone.

What is the Call of Duty Vanguard download size?

Since Black Ops Cold War featured a campaign, zombies, multiplayer, and Warzone, we can use this as a rough base. Therefore, we could have the Call of Duty Vanguard download size be 30%-50% smaller than the Black Ops preload.

Therefore, we could expect the PC version to be between 15-25GB for multiplayer, 45-60GB for the full game or 60-90GB for the ultra version.

Meanwhile, the console versions could be:

  • PlayStation 4: 45-60GB
  • PlayStation 5: 70-100GB
  • Xbox One: 45-60GB
  • Xbox Series X|S: 70-100GB

Please take our estimations with a pinch of salt. It is not exact maths since we don’t actually know which consoles are in which part of the reduced download size percentage spectrum. When the new seasons inevitably launch for Vanguard, your 200GB CoD game could be anywhere between 100GB and 140GB instead.

However, the Xbox store currently lists the expected field size of Vanguard to be 92GB, which puts it in the range of the 30% reduced download size theory. Click the link here and check the additional info to find the game’s approx download size on the Xbox store.

The CoD games are still certainly massive, but they are by no means the behemoths they once were. Of course, this is presuming that what Activision have said is true. We will update the article when we know the full system requirements.
