Riot Forge, the publishing arm owned by the world-famous developer behind one of the most popular games, Riot Games, just released the Ruined King: A League of Legends Story. The single-player RPG helps expand the massive lore behind its world-famous MOBA, League of Legends, taking us through the season of the Shadow Isles and exploring the content behind Viego and his haunted kingdom.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story Release date is today (November 16)

For those aware, we have known about Ruined King: A League of Legends Story all year. Riot Games announced earlier this year that LoL was getting a single-player RPG, helping us dive more into the game’s lore. When they announced this year’s season would be themed around Viego, the Ruined King, and the Shadow Isles, it got fans excited.

Not to mention he was the first champion dropped in 2021, which is exciting. Moreso, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story contains lore elements that help to tease new champion releases. Earlier this year, the game mentioned there could be hints at new champions in the game. While it has certainly been a long wait, we can now explore the Shadow Isles and what we can expect.

The story’s premises occur in Bilgewater, the pirate-themed territory of the Runettera, the continent where League of Legend’s lore centres around. The characters from the show you can expect to see are Pyke, Braum, Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Ahri, and Yasuo. Not every character is from Bilgewater, with Ahri and Yasuo coming from Ionia, and Braum, a Freiljorian (is that even what they are referred to?) This unlikely band of misfits will travel from Bilgewater to the Shadow Isles to find all the mysteries on the island.

If you buy the deluxe edition before December 16, you will also get an exclusive skin for Yasuo, which turns his Katana into Manamune, a sword that is in League of Legends. The Delux Edition also comes with the game’s various DLC packs.
