Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has finally got a release date, pre order options, and some rather interesting pre order bonuses to boot. MW2 is the next big AAA game, with has the potential to break Activision’s game sales records by some distance. Call of Duty has already officially stated that you can gain access to the Modern Warfare 2 beta, with early access to those that pre order the title. When does the beta release though? Well, Amazon may have let slip the official date, although it is still speculative at this stage.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta release date prediction

Activision confirmed that all pre orders of the game will come with beta access but when is it? Well, Amazon US recently stated the following:

“Pre-Order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II for any platform by August 15th, 2022 to unlock early access to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Open Beta. Must be shipped and sold by Amazon. Codes will be sent on August 15th.“

While all platforms may be able to enjoy early access to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the leaked beta it is apparently going to be hitting PlayStation first. Whether MW2 will be available for both the PS4 and PS5 at the same time is unknown, however, we saw a similar staggered roll-out beta access with Vanguard. This makes it hard to know who would get to play if August 15th is correct.

We predict the leaked August 15th, 2022 release of Modern Warfare 2 beta is fairly close, if not bang on. Looking at previous years, the timing seems right, giving developers enough time to stress servers and iron out major bugs before the launch in October.

Call of Duty hit a rough period somewhere around 2013 and the franchise was slowly declining in popularity. If it wasn’t for the free-to-play mode Warzone, the franchise may have never recovered, however, the success of the battle royale shooter speaks for itself. This makes MW2 a pivotal game for the franchise, not necessarily make or break, seeing as the free-to-play Warzone and mobile games are two of the most popular in the world.
