Elgato has been continually innovating in the streaming gear space for years, and that’s only been highlighted by the company being acquired by Corsair in 2018. Since then, the platform has also evolved and matured into a walled garden of streaming products and peripherals to help improve your streaming setup. This in itself has evolved into a cottage industry that serves innovative, new products to streamers. They have products such as lights, microphones, webcams, and capture cards; but their most recent announcement shows us something new.
What is the Elgato Stream Deck Pedal?
The Elgato Stream Deck Pedal is a USB-based pedal with three inputs for whatever you want. This includes hooking into Elgato’s software or assigning one of the three buttons as an input to be used in-game. A promotional video released by the company shows off the pedal as being used to lean in a first-person shooter. Elgato boasts access to profiles to switch the function of these keys on the fly, with additional support for input sensitivity, and also comes with optional stoppers. With access to over 200+ plugins at launch, it’s possible that the Elgato Stream Deck Pedal could be a lot more than simply what its name might imply.
Elgato Discord plugin
In addition to this, Elgato has also launched their own Steam Deck Plugin, which gives you fine control over what buttons or pedal to program, and what action that has on Discord. You can go all the way from muting your microphone, to pushing a button to talk, joining and exiting voice channels, and switching channels, to boot. This is an incredibly useful function for content creators who might be collaborating with others. Best of all, if you already own a Stream Deck of any kind; it’s completely free through a software update, so don’t sleep on this and update your Stream Deck to get on this piece of brand-new functionality. The company has also included a tweet highlighting some of the features below.
For example, this could open up to becoming an accessory for gamers with a disability, and allow for a different form of input for each game. In addition to this, you would also be able to switch between overlays without strictly being at your PC at any given time. This level of customization is incredible, and the number of applications for it could be endless.
Elgato Stream Deck Pedal price & release date
The Elgato Stream Deck Pedal is $89.99 / £79.99 in the US and UK respectively. This is a fantastic value option, for the customization that the device actually allows for. The release date for the Elgato Stream Deck Pedal is January 25, 2022. It can also be purchased directly at the Elgato Store right now. Third-party retailers are not yet selling the Stream Deck Pedal, though we’d expect to see this change over the coming weeks.
