WWE 2K22 has many match types and new game modes but does Special Guest Referee Match makes it return to the series? We did not see this match type since WWE 2K14 so is WWE 2K22 finally the game to bring it back?

To answer briefly no. There is no Special Guest Referee Match in WWE 2K22. To the disappointment of many fans, the game did not introduce any new match types. Is it possible it will be added in the future? Of course, but it is not likely.
WWE 2K22’s Season Pass contains 5 DLC Packs and the superstars from all of those were already announced. Considering the previous titles from the franchise chances are very slim for a new match type to be added. It was one of the most requested features to the series for a long time, and it is a bit frustrating to see no new match types in the revamped WWE 2K22.

I personally think that there is a very high chance it will be added in another game in the franchise. 2K focused on redesigning the game and changing a lot of things and WWE 2K22 is a good foundation for the next 3 or 4 installments in the series. They should expand upon it, introduce new match types and return some deleted features like MyStory and Special Guest Referee Match.
There were some speculations because one of the referees resembled Angelo Dawkins (one member of Street Profits) during the marketing of the game, but it was not the case. The resemblance is there, but the referee was not Angelo Dawkins.
